I’ve just read the woman’s journey, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best self-help guides I’ve come across. It’s very personal, in the way you can fill in parts on your thoughts and how you feel things could have been different, which allows you to reflect upon knowing when you should have left - more as a preventative for if you ever find yourself in that position again! I absolutely loved the fact there was 3 different scenarios in there, that were very down to earth, it felt like real scenarios from real people, and yet they didn’t tell you the outcome, so that you could decide for yourself how the ending should be, and goes on to question what your ending would be as well. As you go further through the book, the self-help bits get a bit harder to write, more because you realise how different of a person you are now, as to who you were then. You find yourself wanting to shake the ‘old you’ into seeing what was happening but ultimately being able to forgive yourself and move forwards from it. It’s definitely a self-help guide I’d be recommending to anyone going through or has ever experienced domestic abuse. Thank you for giving me the privilege of reading it.

Wow what can I say? This has to be the best self-help book I’ve come across for survivors and women currently going through domestic violence. It’s informative and helpful, it’s set out beautifully and easy to follow, it’s got some real-life case studies which just show how different each journey is and lets the reader feel how the victim feels. As you progress through the book it does become a sudden realisation how far you have come even though some days you may not feel like you are moving forward but you are and you do and will move forward. It’s great to see your own ramblings l, doodles and thoughts written down in notes you’ve made. I particularly liked the poem as I could relate to it well. I also liked how it was small and easy to pop in my bag so I could refer to it when I was having a moment… I would highly recommend this self help guide and book for survivors and women who are currently in need of help and support. It’s also very helpful that of your struggling whilst using the book Helen is just at the end of an inbox or the phone for guidance and support of her kind and understanding words of encouragement and support.
